Classification of iron art

According to the different uses of iron art, it can be divided into six categories, namely: architectural decoration, home furnishing, lamps, brackets, daily necessities, and decorations.

Architectural decoration: including gates, door flowers, handles, windows, window flowers, window bars, fences, base enclosures, handrails, fences, column flowers, screen flowers, wall flowers, beam flowers, eaves flowers, fireplaces, etc.

Furniture: including benches, chairs, tables, beds, coffee tables, etc….

Lamps include street lamps, floor lamps, table lamps, wall lamps, chandeliers, etc….

Brackets: including bookshelves, stands, flower stands, card stands, etc….

Daily necessities: including tableware, flower baskets, etc….

Decorations: including small desk ornaments, artworks, etc….

From a broad perspective: there are garden architecture iron art, furniture decoration iron art, and arts and crafts iron art. According to the materials and processing methods of iron art, there are three major categories of iron art, namely flat iron flowers, cast iron art, and wrought iron art.

 1. Flat iron flowers: flat iron is the main material, cold bending is the main process, manual operation or manual tools are used, and the end is rarely modified.

 2. Cast iron art: gray cast iron is the main material, casting is the main process, with various flower patterns and strong decorativeness.

3. Wrought iron art: low-carbon steel profiles are the main raw materials, surface flower tying, mechanical bending, and die forging are the main processes, and manual forging is used for auxiliary processing.

From the above categories, it can be seen that iron art products almost include most of the items that we come into contact with in daily life. Moreover, with the improvement of technology, their production is more exquisite and the types are more extensive. Iron art is loved by people because it has unique characteristics. In terms of texture, they have a metallic texture, heavy and solid shape, exquisite patterns but tough lines. Depending on the processing technology, it will have different looks and feels. Iron art formed by casting has a sense of hardness, roughness, calmness and grandeur; iron art formed by pressing is flat, smooth and fine; iron art formed by mechanical grinding and carving is small, exquisite and bright; iron art formed by twisting, bending and welding has strong linearity, a sense of elegance and distinct graphics; iron art formed by forging has rich shapes and varied patterns.

Iron art is a metal product, which is wear-resistant and durable, not easy to break, easy to maintain and noble. In addition to the above characteristics, the main reason why iron art is favored by people is the cultural connotation it embodies. Traditional classical iron art conveys a European continental style, exotic culture, and a decorative form different from local traditional culture and art.
