Iron materials and processing methods

Iron art is an extremely common name. Iron art has a long history, and traditional iron art is mainly used in the decoration of buildings, homes, and gardens. The development of iron materials and craftsmanship has also gone through a process of over 2000 years. Iron art, as an architectural decorative art, emerged in the early 17th century during the period when Baroque architectural styles were prevalent. It has always been accompanied by the development of European architectural decorative art. Traditional European craftsmen and handicrafts have a simple, elegant, rough artistic style and glorious history, which is breathtaking and has been passed down to this day.
Iron works can be classified into various types, including garden and architectural iron, furniture and decorative iron, and arts and crafts iron. According to the materials and processing methods of ironwork, ironwork can be divided into three categories: flat iron flower, cast iron ironwork, and forged iron ironwork. The following is a specific introduction.
2、 Flat iron flower
Flat iron flower is mainly made of flat iron as the main material, and cold bending is the main process. It is mainly operated by manual tools, with less end decoration and greater freedom of shape. However, the limitations of materials are significant, making it difficult to use materials with large cross-sectional areas, as well as poor craftsmanship and decorative performance. Due to its low cost, it is still widely used in situations where functionality is emphasized and prices are low.

3、 Forged iron and iron craftsmanship
Cast iron is mainly made of gray iron and cast steel, with casting as the main process. It has a variety of patterns and strong decorative properties, making it one of the main forms of ironwork. Due to poor toughness, easy fracture, and fracture of gray cast steel, the pattern is prone to fracture. Most castings are formed using sand molds, resulting in rough surfaces. Its poor weldability, durability, and overall engineering damage are difficult to remedy, and these shortcomings need to be addressed through materials and processes.

4、 Forging iron craftsmanship
Forging iron art mainly uses low-carbon steel profiles as the main raw material, with surface embossing, mechanical bending, and die forging as the main processes, supplemented by manual forging. Its processing accuracy is high, product quality is good, craftsmanship is strong, decoration is strong, cost and price are high, and it has formed a standardized and batch production capacity for forgings. Separating production and engineering reduces construction difficulty in the project.
