Surface protection and decoration technology of iron products

The process of protecting and decorating the surface of iron products, which can reduce and avoid metal surface corrosion and also play a decorative role, is called the surface protection and decoration of iron products. For iron products, a comprehensive treatment method of surface protection and decoration is generally adopted. There are many specific treatment methods, but for iron products, the commonly used ones are coating and electroplating (hot plating). If both are used together, it is the best for durability.

1. Non metallic protective layer: Apply one or more layers of organic and inorganic compounds, such as paint, plastic, rubber, asphalt, enamel, acid resistant materials, rust preventive oil, etc., to the surface of iron products.
2. Metal protective layer: A layer of non rusting metal or alloy, such as zinc, tin, nickel, chromium, copper, titanium, etc., is coated on the surface of iron products. Common methods include electroplating, spray plating, hot dip plating, etc., but the metal protective layer used on iron products should generally be hot-dip galvanized. Due to the professional degreasing and rust removal of the plated workpiece before plating, as well as the high-temperature immersion plating in a zinc melt at 440 degrees Celsius, the coating can cover many defects and gaps, avoid future rusting (especially suitable for rust prevention of outdoor iron products), and have excellent adhesion performance.

3. Chemical protective layer: A protective layer formed by chemical and electrochemical methods to form a non-metallic film on the surface of iron products, such as blackening, blueing, phosphate treatment, etc.
The protective layer obtained using the above methods has both protective and decorative effects. But for iron products, the majority of users are increasingly demanding that the surface of iron products not only be rust resistant, but also have various different textures, three-dimensional effects, or artistic effects such as vintage or antique, or a gorgeous appearance. Therefore, on the basis of the above, it is increasingly important to select the paint brand with the strongest affinity and the most aging resistance to the substrate from the thousands of paint varieties sold on the market, as well as a reasonable application method. Only targeted choices can achieve the desired decorative effect and reduce maintenance workload after several years.
